I’ve been seeing a lot of Vistaprint commercials lately on TV. I first came to know about this company a few years ago when I needed to have some postcards made. I chose Vistaprint because they have a good web tool that lets you design the postcard entirely online. There are pre-designed templates you can choose, then you pretty much just add text to it and format it. I don’t remember exactly how much I paid, but I believe I used Vistaprint coupons and saved about 25%, making the total cost under $100.

I think Vistaprint was one of the first printing services online. Nowadays, there are tons of them that have opened its doors, so you have a lot more companies to choose from. It seems as the internet matures, the consumer wins because there are more choices available.

Ever since the game Star Wars: The Old Republic came out, I’ve been playing it fairly regularly. This MMOG has recently even gone free, but in all honesty, you have to maintain a subscription if you want to play this game seriously. One thing that frustrates me is that I seem to run out of credits quite a bit. Other people always seem to have more SWTOR credits than I do.

And I think I might have figured out why. There are actually gaming sites that sell credits for SWTOR. There seems to be a decent market for it, and many of these sites also sell gold for World of Warcraft.

Now, call me a purist but I can’t quite bring myself to use these sites, broke as my character is. I think I’ll take up crafting more seriously and if it doesn’t solve my SWTOR character’s money problems, buying SWTOR credits may just be my next move.

Aren’t zombies so charming?

It’s not unusual these days for a cable program to be really big, sometimes rivaling the numbers that network TV stations get. Previously, we’ve seen shows like Game of Thrones attract pretty large audiences worldwide. But the latest case in point would be The Walking Dead, which airs on AMC. I believe their recent season finale attracted some 12 million pairs of eyes.  Who said zombies weren’t vogue?

I have to admit, I haven’t had a chance to watch every single episode. But these days, that’s hardly an issue if you have a Netflix account. Full Episodes of the Walking Dead are available for previous seasons. Right now I’m catching up on the episodes I missed for season 2.

Incidentally, it’s possible to get a free trial of Netflix that lasts a month. If I recall correctly, that’s how I became a member. It’s available at fullepisodesguide.com if you’re interested. Quick side note – I just saw on CNN today that Netflix viewers watched 4 billion hours of video in the past quarter. That’s a lot of damn hours!

Okay, so this isn’t too original of me, but Skyrim is one of my favorite games.

I always laugh a bit whenever I think about Gamefly. Who in the world would think up of such a weird name? And what do flies have to do with games? But all kidding aside, I suppose it doesn’t really matter much, in the grand scheme of things. Internet businesses have a long history of cooking up all sorts of bizarre-sounding brand names. Many of the biggest Internet companies, in fact, have completely nonsensical names, like Google or Yahoo.

But I digress. Gamefly, for those of you who don’t know, is a video game rental company that delivers video games to your home. The cool part is that you can keep the game as long as you wish, then send it back. Postage is already paid for. Now, for a serious gamer, I would say this service is essential for saving money. There just isn’t any other way you can play a huge variety of games month by month, unless you happen to have a sizable bankroll set aside for video games (If you do, let me know…I can be your new best friend…wink wink).

For the rest of us, there is Gamefly, where memberships usually cost $15.95 a month, if you rent one game at a time. Now, I will say this – you do need to be a bit patient with Gamefly, since it does take a few days to return your game and receive your next title. If that is too unbearable, then you’re just SOL. As for myself, I’m working on developing my patience. And while I haven’t reached Jedi-master levels of patience yet, I’m definitely getting there.

I absolutely love free trials, and if all of this sounds good to you, you are in luck since there is a 10 day Gamefly Free Trial available. I think it’s probably safe to say that over half the people who get the trial end up keeping the service. That’s how it was for me, with both Netflix and Gamefly. But all in all, I would say Gamefly is worth the price of admission.

For a long time, I have thought about starting a blog. Yes, I have a twitter account but it seems a bit lacking. Twitter may be great for those with ADD but for people who have a lot to say, it just does not feel satisfying. I think that is why blogs have continued to be popular on the Internet despite all the permutations the online universe has gone through.

Now I am quite sure most of you aren’t interested in someone yapping about their life or rambling about random thoughts that cross through their mind. Because of this, I have decided my blog will be a place where I talk about information that I believe would have practical use to others. Some topics I am looking forward to covering are: Shopping on the Internet, Saving Money, Personal Finance, Books, Movies/DVDs, Computer Software, and anything else.
